CWE-122 04/03/2026
Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Software Snort 3 Visual Basic for Application Heap Overflow Denial of Service Vulnerability
Multiple Cisco products are affected by a vulnerability in the Snort 3 VBA feature that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause the Snort 3 Detection Engine to crash.
This vulnerability is due to improper range checking when decompressing VBA data, which is user controlled. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted VBA data to the Snort 3 Detection Engine on the targeted device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause an overflow of heap data, which could cause a DoS condition.

CWE-122 26/02/2026
Crypt::SysRandom::XS versions before 0.010 for Perl is vulnerable to a heap buffer overflow in the XS function random_bytes()
Crypt::SysRandom::XS versions before 0.010 for Perl is vulnerable to a heap buffer overflow in the XS function random_bytes().
The function does not validate that the length parameter is non-negative. If a negative value (e.g. -1) is supplied, the expression length + 1u causes an integer wraparound, resulting in a zero-byte allocation. The subsequent call to chosen random function (e.g. getrandom) passes the original negative value, which is implicitly converted to a large unsigned value (typically SIZE_MAX). This can result in writes beyond the allocated buffer, leading to heap memory corruption and application crash (denial of service).
In common usage, the length argument is typically hardcoded by the caller, which reduces the likelihood of attacker-controlled exploitation. Applications that pass untrusted input to this parameter may be affected.

CWE-122 26/02/2026
Golioth Pouch (prior to commit 1b2219a1) BLE GATT Heap-based Buffer Overflow
Golioth Pouch version 0.1.0, prior to commit 1b2219a1, contains a heap-based buffer overflow in BLE GATT server certificate handling. server_cert_write() allocates a heap buffer of size CONFIG_POUCH_SERVER_CERT_MAX_LEN when receiving the first fragment, then appends subsequent fragments using memcpy() without verifying that sufficient capacity remains. An adjacent BLE client can send unauthenticated fragments whose combined size exceeds the allocated buffer, causing a heap overflow and crash; integrity impact is also possible due to memory corruption.

CWE-122 25/02/2026
ImageMagick has a heap Buffer Over-read in its DJVU image format handler
ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40, a heap buffer over-read vulnerability exists in the DJVU image format handler. The vulnerability occurs due to integer truncation when calculating the stride (row size) for pixel buffer allocation. The stride calculation overflows a 32-bit signed integer, resulting in an out-of-bounds memory reads. Versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40 contain a patch.

CWE-122 23/02/2026
ImageMagick has heap-buffer-overflow via signed integer overflow in `WriteUHDRImage` when writing UHDR images with large dimensions
ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. `WriteUHDRImage` in `coders/uhdr.c` uses `int` arithmetic to compute the pixel buffer size. Prior to version 7.1.2-15, when image dimensions are large, the multiplication overflows 32-bit `int`, causing an undersized heap allocation followed by an out-of-bounds write. This can crash the process or potentially lead to an out of bounds heap write. Version 7.1.2-15 contains a patch.

CWE-122 23/02/2026
ImageMagick: Out of bounds read in multiple coders read raw pixel data
ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40, a heap buffer over-read vulnerability exists in multiple raw image format handles. The vulnerability occurs when processing images with -extract dimensions larger than -size dimensions, causing out-of-bounds memory reads from a heap-allocated buffer. Versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40 contain a patch.

CWE-122 23/02/2026
free5GC has Heap Buffer Overflow in UPF Leading to Denial of Service
free5GC go-upf is the User Plane Function (UPF) implementation for 5G networks that is part of the free5GC project. Versions prior to 1.2.8 have a Heap-based Buffer Overflow (CWE-122) vulnerability leading to Denial of Service. Remote attackers can crash the UPF network element by sending a specially crafted PFCP Session Modification Request with an invalid SDF Filter length field. This causes a heap buffer overflow, resulting in complete service disruption for all connected UEs and potential cascading failures affecting the SMF. All deployments of free5GC using the UPF component may be affected. Version 1.2.8 of go-upf contains a fix.

CWE-122 23/02/2026
389-ds-base: 389-ds-base: remote code execution and denial of service via heap buffer overflow
A flaw was found in the 389-ds-base server. A heap buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the `schema_attr_enum_callback` function within the `schema.c` file. This occurs because the code incorrectly calculates the buffer size by summing alias string lengths without accounting for additional formatting characters. When a large number of aliases are processed, this oversight can lead to a heap overflow, potentially allowing a remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) or achieve Remote Code Execution (RCE).

CWE-122 20/02/2026
SAIL: Heap-based Buffer Overflow in Sail-codecs-xwd
SAIL is a cross-platform library for loading and saving images with support for animation, metadata, and ICC profiles. All versions are vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow through the XWD parser's use of the bytes_per_line value. The value os read directly from the file as the read size in io->strict_read(), and is never compared to the actual size of the destination buffer. An attacker can provide an XWD file with an arbitrarily large bytes_per_line, causing a massive write operation beyond the buffer heap allocated for the image pixels. The issue did not have a fix at the time of publication.

GIMP ICNS File Parsing Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
GIMP ICNS File Parsing Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of GIMP. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
The specific flaw exists within the parsing of ICNS files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-28530.

PJSIP has a Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability in its H.264 unpacketizer
PJSIP is a free and open source multimedia communication library written in C. In versions 2.16 and below, there is a critical Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability in PJSIP's H.264 unpacketizer. The bug occurs when processing malformed SRTP packets, where the unpacketizer reads a 2-byte NAL unit size field without validating that both bytes are within the payload buffer bounds. The vulnerability affects applications that receive video using H.264. A patch is available at https://github.com/pjsip/pjproject/commit/f821c214e52b11bae11e4cd3c7f0864538fb5491.

CWE-122 19/02/2026
HDF5 Affected by H5T__conv_struct_opt Heap Buffer Overflow
HDF5 is software for managing data. Prior to version 1.14.4-2, an attacker who can control an `h5` file parsed by HDF5 can trigger a write-based heap buffer overflow condition. This can lead to a denial-of-service condition, and potentially further issues such as remote code execution depending on the practical exploitability of the heap overflow against modern operating systems. Real-world exploitability of this issue in terms of remote-code execution is currently unknown. Version 1.14.4-2 fixes the issue.
