Elio through 1.13.0 Insecure Temporary File Creation in External Preview Command Capture
Elio through 1.13.0 contains an insecure temporary file vulnerability that allows local users to overwrite another user's files by pre-creating symbolic links at predictable capture paths. Attackers who know the victim's Elio process ID can plant a symlink so previewing media, fonts or archives truncates and overwrites victim-owned files.

Code for IBM i: Temporary files are visible to all users
Code for IBM i is a Visual Studio Code extension for maintaining and compiling ILE languages on the IBMi platform. Prior to 3.0.1, src/ui/views/objectBrowser.ts stores Object Browser downloads and the edit-save flow content in the shared /tmp directory without reliable cleanup. On systems where /tmp is accessible to other local accounts, file contents remain readable after download or editing operations. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.1.
CVE-2026-41991 Média · 4.7 CWE-377 29/06/2026
Predictable Temporary File in GNU gzip
GNU gzip contains a vulnerability in the gzexe utility related to insecure temporary file handling. When the mktemp utility is not available in the user’s PATH, gzexe falls back to constructing a temporary file path based solely on the process ID (PID). This predictable filename is created without exclusive access or existence checks. A local attacker can pre‑create the predicted temporary file path as a symbolic link pointing to an arbitrary file writable by the victim. When gzexe runs, it follows the symlink and overwrites the target file, resulting in a time‑of‑check to time‑of‑use (TOCTOU) condition that allows arbitrary file overwrite. This issue has been fixed in the commit 4e6f8b24ab823146ab8776f0b7fe486ab34d4269

Predictable Temp Directory in Artemis Auto-configuration
Spring Boot's ArtemisEmbeddedConfigurationFactory uses a fixed, static path for the embedded Artemis message broker's data directory when no explicit path is configured. A local attacker on the same host can pre-create this predictable directory or place a symlink before the application starts. Affected versions: Spring Boot 4.0.0 through 4.0.6; 3.5.0 through 3.5.14; 3.4.0 through 3.4.16; 3.3.0 through 3.3.19; 2.7.0 through 2.7.33.

CodexBar < 0.32.0 Privilege Escalation via CLI Installer Temp File
CodexBar prior to 0.32.0 contains a privilege escalation vulnerability in the CLI installer that allows local attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root by exploiting a race condition in temporary file handling. The installer creates a temporary file with mktemp, writes a privileged shell payload into it, and executes it with administrator privileges via bash, allowing a same-user local process to rewrite the installer body before the administrator prompt is approved, causing attacker-controlled commands to run as root.

A local attacker on the same host as the application may be able to take control of the directory used by `ApplicationTemp`. When `server.servlet.session.persistent` is set to `true` and the attack persists across application restarts, this may allow the attacker to read session information and hijack authenticated users or deploy a gadget chain and execute code as the application's user. Affected: Spring Boot 4.0.0–4.0.5 (fix 4.0.6), 3.5.0–3.5.13 (fix 3.5.14), 3.4.0–3.4.15 (fix 3.4.16), 3.3.0–3.3.18 (fix 3.3.19), 2.7.0–2.7.32 (fix 2.7.33); predictable temp directory / `ApplicationTemp` ownership verification. Versions that are no longer supported are also affected per vendor advisory.
CVE-2026-35342 Baixa · 3.3 CWE-377 22/04/2026
uutils coreutils mktemp Insecure Temporary File Placement via Empty TMPDIR
The mktemp utility in uutils coreutils fails to properly handle an empty TMPDIR environment variable. Unlike GNU mktemp, which falls back to /tmp when TMPDIR is an empty string, the uutils implementation treats the empty string as a valid path. This causes temporary files to be created in the current working directory (CWD) instead of the intended secure temporary directory. If the CWD is more permissive or accessible to other users than /tmp, it may lead to unintended information disclosure or unauthorized access to temporary data.

Requests has Insecure Temp File Reuse in its extract_zipped_paths() utility function
Requests is a HTTP library. Prior to version 2.33.0, the `requests.utils.extract_zipped_paths()` utility function uses a predictable filename when extracting files from zip archives into the system temporary directory. If the target file already exists, it is reused without validation. A local attacker with write access to the temp directory could pre-create a malicious file that would be loaded in place of the legitimate one. Standard usage of the Requests library is not affected by this vulnerability. Only applications that call `extract_zipped_paths()` directly are impacted. Starting in version 2.33.0, the library extracts files to a non-deterministic location. If developers are unable to upgrade, they can set `TMPDIR` in their environment to a directory with restricted write access.

World-Writable NLTK Cache Directory Vulnerability in run-llama/llama_index
The llama_index library version 0.12.33 sets the NLTK data directory to a subdirectory of the codebase by default, which is world-writable in multi-user environments. This configuration allows local users to overwrite, delete, or corrupt NLTK data files, leading to potential denial of service, data tampering, or privilege escalation. The vulnerability arises from the use of a shared cache directory instead of a user-specific one, making it susceptible to local data tampering and denial of service.

CVE-2021-29429 Média · 5.5 CWE-377 12/04/2021
Information disclosure through temporary directory permissions
In Gradle before version 7.0, files created with open permissions in the system temporary directory can allow an attacker to access information downloaded by Gradle. Some builds could be vulnerable to a local information disclosure. Remote files accessed through TextResourceFactory are downloaded into the system temporary directory first. Sensitive information contained in these files can be exposed to other local users on the same system. If you do not use the `TextResourceFactory` API, you are not vulnerable. As of Gradle 7.0, uses of the system temporary directory have been moved to the Gradle User Home directory. By default, this directory is restricted to the user running the build. As a workaround, set a more restrictive umask that removes read access to other users. When files are created in the system temporary directory, they will not be accessible to other users. If you are unable to change your system's umask, you can move the Java temporary directory by setting the System Property `java.io.tmpdir`. The new path needs to limit permissions to the build user only.
