CVE-2026-64267 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fuse: avoid 32-bit…

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fuse: avoid 32-bit prune notification count wrap FUSE_NOTIFY_PRUNE validates the nodeid payload length with: size - sizeof(outarg) != outarg.count * sizeof(u64) On 32-bit kernels, size_t is also 32 bits, so the daemon-controlled count multiplication can wrap. A prune notification with count 0x20000000 and no nodeid payload passes the check, enters the copy loop, and asks the device copy path to read nodeids that are not present in the userspace write buffer. In QEMU this reaches the fuse_copy_fill() BUG_ON(!err) path. Validate the payload length with array_size() instead. That accepts exactly the same valid messages, but avoids wrapping arithmetic before the copy loop consumes the count.

Who exploits it and how urgent it is

A 0–100 score combining confirmed exploitation, ransomware and APT use, public exploits, EPSS and severity.

No exploitation signal in the sources consulted so far.
How the score was calculated
  • Technical severity (medium)+3

The score orders the patch queue; it does not replace your asset context (internet exposure, criticality, compensating controls).

Triage

Is it exploited, how likely is exploitation, what does it touch, and how severe do the sources call it.

First 24 hours

Ordered from the record’s own fields — exposure first, because you cannot patch what you have not found. A rule-generated starting point.

  1. Identify exposed assets running the affected vendor/product/version combinations (Linux Linux Kernel).
  2. Apply the fixed version or the patch documented under Remediation.
  3. Search available logs for exploit probes, errors and authentication anomalies.

What should defenders know first?

CVE-2026-64267 is "In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fuse: avoid 32-bit…", rated Medium. It affects Linux Kernel (Linux); versions are in the scope table. It is not in CISA KEV, which does not rule out exploitation. CVSS 5.5 describes technical severity. First verify whether exposed or business-critical assets run the affected versions, apply vendor fixes or mitigations, and preserve logs for review.
