CVE-2026-7015 — MaxSite CMS Guestbook Plugin cross site scripting

A vulnerability has been found in MaxSite CMS up to 109.3. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Guestbook Plugin. Such manipulation of the argument f_text/f_slug/f_limit/f_email leads to cross site scripting. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. Upgrading to version 109.4 is capable of addressing this issue. The name of the patch is 8a3946bd0a54bfb72a4d57179fcd253f2c550cd7. It is suggested to upgrade the affected component. The vendor was informed early about this issue. They classify it as a "Self-XSS". They deployed a countermeasure: "Nevertheless, we consider this a violation of secure coding standards. The lack of filtering via `htmlspecialchars()` has already been fixed in the latest patch to prevent incorrect data display."

Who exploits it and how urgent it is

A 0–100 score combining confirmed exploitation, ransomware and APT use, public exploits, EPSS and severity.

No exploitation signal in the sources consulted so far.
How the score was calculated
  • EPSS 0.4% (30-day exploitation probability)+4
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation "poc"+5

The score orders the patch queue; it does not replace your asset context (internet exposure, criticality, compensating controls).

Triage

Is it exploited, how likely is exploitation, what does it touch, and how severe do the sources call it.

Remediation

Fixes and mitigations documented by the sources — linked to the original advisory.

No fix documented by the sources we poll. That does not mean none exists: check the vendor advisory.

First 24 hours

Ordered from the record’s own fields — exposure first, because you cannot patch what you have not found. A rule-generated starting point.

  1. Identify exposed assets running the affected vendor/product/version combinations (MaxSite CMS).
  2. No fix documented in the sources: reduce exposure and monitor the vendor advisory.
  3. Exploitation requires user interaction: tighten email/web filtering and warn affected users.
  4. Search available logs for exploit probes matching the vulnerability class (cross-site scripting), errors and authentication anomalies.

What should defenders know first?

CVE-2026-7015 is "MaxSite CMS Guestbook Plugin cross site scripting", rated Low. It affects CMS (MaxSite); versions are in the scope table. It is not in CISA KEV, which does not rule out exploitation. CVSS 2.4 describes technical severity. EPSS 0.38% estimates the probability of exploitation in 30 days; neither replaces your asset context. First verify whether exposed or business-critical assets run the affected versions, apply vendor fixes or mitigations, and preserve logs for review.
