In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: batman-adv: v: stop OGMv2 on disabled interface When a batadv_hard_iface is disabled, its mesh_iface pointer is set to NULL. However, batadv_v_ogm_send_meshif() may still dispatch OGMs via batadv_v_ogm_queue_on_if() for interfaces that have since lost their mesh_iface association. This results in a NULL pointer dereference when batadv_v_ogm_queue_on_if() unconditionally calls netdev_priv() on the now NULL hard_iface->mesh_iface to retrieve the batadv_priv. It is necessary to ensure that the batadv_v_ogm_queue_on_if() checks that it is using the same mesh_iface for which batadv_v_ogm_send_meshif() was called.

GPAC MP4Box v2.4 was discovered to contain a NULL pointer dereference in the gf_isom_add_track_kind() function at isomedia/isom_write.c. This vulnerability allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted MP4 file.

pam_usb provides hardware authentication for Linux using ordinary removable media. In versions 0.9.1 and below, pusb_is_loginctl_local() can cause a NULL dereference crash when parsing loginctl output. The function calls popen() and reads the result; if the Remote field is only a newline, fgets() succeeds but strtok_r(buf, "\n", &saveptr) returns NULL. A subsequent strcmp(is_remote, "no") then dereferences NULL, causing undefined behavior (typically SIGSEGV) and crashing the PAM module. This can crash the authenticating process (e.g., sudo, login) and, depending on PAM stack configuration, deny access for all users of the affected service. This issue has been fixed in version 0.9.2.

A maliciously crafted RFA file, when converted to FormIt via “Convert RFA to FormIt” in Autodesk Revit, can force a NULL Pointer Dereference vulnerability. Successful exploitation may cause the application to crash, leading to a denial-of-service condition.

A NULL pointer dereference occurs in Roy Marples NetworkConfiguration/dhcpcd 10.3.0 while parsing configuration options. In parse_option() (src/if-options.c:1886), the code performs a member access on a NULL pointer of type 'struct dhcp_opt' when an unexpected/invalid option token or parsing state causes the lookup to yield NULL. The instrumented fuzzing build reports 'runtime error: member access within null pointer of type struct dhcp_opt' and aborts.

ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to versions 6.9.13-50 and 7.1.2-25, when passing incorrect arguments in the distort operation a null pointer deference will occur. This issue has been patched in versions 6.9.13-50 and 7.1.2-25.

If a remote attacker gains a user account, they can then exploit the vulnerability to launch a denial-of-service (DoS) attack. An authorized user could trigger a server crash by running a query with a 2dsphere index on a field that stores a GeoJSON GeometryCollection containing a Polygon with a strict-winding CRS. Strict-winding polygons are intentionally unsupported for indexing, but the guard that rejects them does not inspect members of a GeometryCollection, allowing the unsafe path to be reached which ends with an ensuing null-pointer dereference.

In MongoDB Server 8.0, an aggregation stage can leave its _subPipeline field null during processing of certain pipelines. If a getMore is subsequently issued on the same cursor, the server may dereference this null sub-pipeline when reattaching to the operation context, accessing an invalid address and crashing the process. This issue allows an authenticated user who can run aggregation pipelines to cause a denial of service by issuing a specially crafted aggregation followed by getMore on affected versions.
