CVE-2026-85714 Critical · 9.1 CWE-94 Oct 14, 2026
Stirling-PDF: Remote Code Execution via H2
Stirling-PDF is a locally hosted web application that facilitates various operations on PDF files. Prior to 2.13.2, an authenticated administrator using the default H2 database and security mode can upload a crafted SQL file to POST /api/v1/database/import-database. DatabaseService.validateSqlContent() splits normalized input on semicolons and accepts a statement when it contains any allowed keyword, allowing dangerous H2 functions such as FILE_READ and CSVWRITE, plus CREATE ALIAS, to bypass the insufficient whitelist and execute side effects when RUNSCRIPT processes the file. This permits arbitrary file access. The demonstrated operating-system command execution chain writes attacker-controlled startup files to a user-site location and then triggers an application Python interpreter configured to load those startup files, resulting in command execution as the JVM service account. This issue is fixed in version 2.13.2.
CVE-2026-71270 High · 8.6 CWE-918 Aug 5, 2026
Stirling-PDF Server-Side Request Forgery via /api/v1/convert/url/pdf WeasyPrint Subprocess
Stirling-PDF's POST /api/v1/convert/url/pdf endpoint (ConvertWebsiteToPDF.java) was not updated with the CustomHtmlSanitizer/SsrfProtectionService SSRF protections that were added to three sibling conversion endpoints (html/pdf, file/pdf, markdown/pdf).
CVE-2026-41580 Medium · 6.1 CWE-79 Jul 15, 2026
Stirling-PDF: Reflected XSS through crafted PDF metadata fields (Title and Author)
Stirling-PDF is a locally hosted web application that facilitates various operations on PDF files. Prior to 2.0.0, Stirling-PDF's /get-info-on-pdf endpoint rendered PDF Title and Author metadata fields without proper HTML encoding or sanitization, allowing a crafted PDF to execute attacker-controlled JavaScript in the browser of a user who views the resulting page. This issue is fixed in version 2.0.0.
CVE-2026-33436 Medium · 6.1 CWE-79 Apr 17, 2026
Stirling-PDF: Reflected XSS through crafted filename in file upload functionality
Stirling-PDF is a locally hosted web application that facilitates various operations on PDF files. In versions prior to 2.0.0, file upload endpoints render user-supplied filenames directly into HTML using unsafe methods like innerHTML without sanitization. An attacker can craft a file with a malicious filename containing JavaScript that executes in the uploading user's browser context, resulting in reflected XSS. The issue affects numerous upload endpoints across the application. The issue has been fixed in version 2.0.0.
CVE-2026-34071 Medium · 6.1 CWE-79 Mar 26, 2026
Stirling-PDF has Stored Cross Site Scripting (XSS) via EML-to-HTML Export
Stirling-PDF is a locally hosted web application that allows you to perform various operations on PDF files. In version 2.7.3, the /api/v1/convert/eml/pdf endpoint with parameter downloadHtml=true returns unsanitized HTML from the email body with Content-Type: text/html. An attacker who sends a malicious email to a Stirling-PDF user can achieve JavaScript execution when that user exports the email using the "Download HTML intermediate file" feature. Version 2.8.0 fixes the issue.
CVE-2026-33438 Medium · 6.5 CWE-770 Mar 26, 2026
Stirling-PDF vulnerable to DoS via add-watermark
Stirling-PDF is a locally hosted web application that allows you to perform various operations on PDF files. Versions starting in 2.1.5 and prior to 2.5.2 have Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability in the Stirling-PDF watermark functionality (`/api/v1/security/add-watermark` endpoint). The vulnerability allows authenticated users to cause resource exhaustion and server crashes by providing extreme values for the `fontSize` and `widthSpacer` parameters. Version 2.5.2 patches the issue.
CVE-2026-27625 Medium · 6.5 CWE-22 Mar 20, 2026
Stirling-PDF Zip Slip: Arbitrary File Write via Path Traversal in Markdown-to-PDF ZIP Extraction
Stirling-PDF is a locally hosted web application that performs various operations on PDF files. In versions prior to 2.5.2, the /api/v1/convert/markdown/pdf endpoint extracts user-supplied ZIP entries without path checks. Any authenticated user can write files outside the intended temporary working directory, leading to arbitrary file write with the privileges of the Stirling-PDF process user (stirlingpdfuser). This can overwrite writable files and compromise data integrity, with further impact depending on writable paths. The issue was fixed in version 2.5.2.
