CVE-2026-43232 — net: wan: farsync: Fix use-after-free bugs caused by unfinished tasklets

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: wan: farsync: Fix use-after-free bugs caused by unfinished tasklets When the FarSync T-series card is being detached, the fst_card_info is deallocated in fst_remove_one(). However, the fst_tx_task or fst_int_task may still be running or pending, leading to use-after-free bugs when the already freed fst_card_info is accessed in fst_process_tx_work_q() or fst_process_int_work_q(). A typical race condition is depicted below: CPU 0 (cleanup) | CPU 1 (tasklet) | fst_start_xmit() fst_remove_one() | tasklet_schedule() unregister_hdlc_device()| | fst_process_tx_work_q() //handler kfree(card) //free | do_bottom_half_tx() | card-> //use The following KASAN trace was captured: ================================================================== BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in do_bottom_half_tx+0xb88/0xd00 Read of size 4 at addr ffff88800aad101c by task ksoftirqd/3/32 ... Who exploits it and how urgent it is

A 0–100 score combining confirmed exploitation, ransomware and APT use, public exploits, EPSS and severity.

No exploitation signal in the sources consulted so far.
How the score was calculated
  • EPSS 0.6% (30-day exploitation probability)+7
  • Technical severity (high)+6

The score orders the patch queue; it does not replace your asset context (internet exposure, criticality, compensating controls).

Triage

Is it exploited, how likely is exploitation, what does it touch, and how severe do the sources call it.

First 24 hours

Ordered from the record’s own fields — exposure first, because you cannot patch what you have not found. A rule-generated starting point.

  1. Identify exposed assets running the affected vendor/product/version combinations (Linux Linux, Linux Linux Kernel).
  2. The attack is network-based and needs no privileges: restrict exposure (ACLs, VPN, WAF) until patched.
  3. Apply the fixed version or the patch documented under Remediation.
  4. Exploitation requires user interaction: tighten email/web filtering and warn affected users.
  5. Search available logs for exploit probes matching the vulnerability class (memory corruption), errors and authentication anomalies.

What should defenders know first?

CVE-2026-43232 is "net: wan: farsync: Fix use-after-free bugs caused by unfinished tasklets", rated High. It affects Linux (Linux); versions are in the scope table. It is not in CISA KEV, which does not rule out exploitation. CVSS 8.8 describes technical severity. EPSS 0.58% estimates the probability of exploitation in 30 days; neither replaces your asset context. First verify whether exposed or business-critical assets run the affected versions, apply vendor fixes or mitigations, and preserve logs for review.
